The term Identity crisis is a term thrown around a lot these days. Several people are lost in the identity of who they are not. We see people engage in all sorts of ungodly, immoral & illicit activities because they are caught in the web of a wrong influence & Identity. In the first part of this series, I mentioned that every man regardless of his race, shape, colour, tribe, or position is greatly Influenced by what he sees & hears.
The perception of who you are can be greatly defined by a number of things such as; your association, the media, your past/present negative experiences, your upbringing, or your possessions. A man's life is a reflection of his Influence. It is necessary that at every stage in the life of a man reflection & evaluation are engaged, so that he may apply his heart to wisdom. Imagine that all you believe you are right now is taken from you, would you still be confident in who you are or lost?
The act of reflecting & evaluating everything within & around you per time is key to your growth in life. Evaluating your association, possession, the kinds of contents you take in, the effect of some life experience on your life, the ideologies you have been wired to believe as a result of your upbringing would help you see where you are & where you are headed in life. It pains me to see people Influenced & lost in the identity of their past, hurt, weakness, failures & disappointments. I have come to tell you, you are not your weakness, you are not your pain neither are you your failures? You are more than these.
A Lion that associates itself with Dogs for a long time, would someday start to perceive itself as a Dog and act in like manner until it comes to the reality of what it truly is.
The quote above is the case with so many people today whose true identity has been masked by a totally fake & different identity. They function from a reality not originally designed by God for their lives. Ask yourself, is this truly me? Am I functioning in God's original purpose for my life? Whose Identity do I bear? What drives the expression of my identity?
MAJOR SIGNS OF IDENTITY CRISIS.
Confusion.
Feeling lost.
Feeling inadequate.
Fear.
Low self-esteem.
The constant questioning of who you truly are.
If you are suffering from some or all of these signs, it's fine. God has positioned this series just for you. You see the ultimate reason why people suffer from Identity crisis is because they are not connected to their potter. Until you truly connect with the one who created & gave you life, you are bound to remain lost in the identity of who you are not. The reality of who you are is found in God through Christ Jesus. It is found in the place of fellowship with Him. It found in who He says you are not what anyone thinks or says.
‘I knew you even before I made your body inside your mother's body. I chose you before you were born. I decided that you must be a prophet to all the countries in the world,’ he said.

You cannot live life to the fullest until you find your true Identity. Seek Him today so that He would renew your mind and reveal you to you. And don't forget to run with whatever He reveals to you.
